Overview of Sessions
Suddenly, your children are all grown up—and you may find yourself in an unexpected and sometimes perplexing stage of parenting. As our children grow and evolve, we too must adapt, developing new skills that support a healthy relationship with them as adults.
Our adult children may hold different views on finances, religion, politics, parenting, and marriage. Yet even amid differing opinions, love and respect can remain strong.
Through this book study group and discussion, our goal is to reflect on our roles as parents of adult children, and to explore how we can adjust our communication and interaction styles to foster deeper, more compassionate connections.
Dr. Steinberg who has studied adult parenting for 40 plus years claims that,
“Today, we need a guide to parenting adult children more than ever before for several reasons: parents have changed young people have changed our scientific understanding of young adulthood ha changed and times have changed. So many of us assumed that we’d be done with parenting by the time our kids finished college, moved away from home, or got married. But parenting today is not what it was when we grew up and either is young adulthood. And that might be perplexing and frustrating.”
Topics that will be covered in this book are your evolving role as a parent, growing together, your adult child’s autonomy, education, your child’s romance and marriage, grand-parenting, and being an in-law. Join me in September for this meaningful journey. Live and learn.

Background Story
While struggling with episodes of anxiety I discovered if I sit down and practice playing piano my anxiety goes away. This prompted me to read and learn more about some of the recent scientific findings that have proven that the arts are not just for entertaiment, but creativitiy plays a vital role in our health and well-being.
